Speedwell Weather supplies historical and real time weather data feeds for thousands
of sites across the globe. We have direct data supply agreements with a range of
national meteorological services and provide a single-point of contact for the provision
of official climate weather data to the energy, commodity and weather derivative markets. Where climate data is hard to get, or expensive, we are able to provide
historical and on-going feeds of cleaned Synoptic data.
Speedwell Recalibrated Data Sets re-base historical temperature data for important
reference sites by adjusting for known or observed discontinuities that have accumulated
over the life time of the observations. The adjustment for such discontinuities
arising from instrumentation changes or changes to the location of the measuring
instruments is critical to a complete understanding of a weather reference site
and in particular to pricing weather hedges.
Speedwell historical weather data sets are available individually or as the following
standard packs. These can be purchased for a one-off cost. Daily updates are also
separately available.
For users of substantial quantities we provide the
Speedwell SuperPack comprising thousands of world wide sites
and combining our inventory of daily and hourly data and feeds.
Standard Cleaned Daily Data Sets: these offer circa 40-50 years
of data. Cleaning has been performed to remove erroneous values and to fill gaps.
On-going feeds are available for all sites The following standard packs are available:
- Europe: pack of 10 sites for the CME weather derivative contracts
- Europe: individual country packs of historical climate data

Super-Long Daily Data Sets: these offer circa 100 years of data.
Where possible, cleaning of data to remove spurious values has been performed. The
purpose of these packs is to offer data sets for long term correlations. As a result
they may not offer on-going feeds and may have stopped reporting in recent times.

- USA: pack of 10 sites
- Worldwide: pack of 10 sites covering Europe, Australia, USA, Japan
- Worldwide: pack of 50 sites covering Europe, Australia, USA, Japan
Hourly Data Sets:
We are able to provide cleaned historical hourly data and cleaned hourly data feeds.
Raw hourly data feeds can be provided in real time via FTP feeds or through our
website. Please contact us.
The following are available:
- Europe: German historic hourly data for circa 70 sites comprising 20 years of history
- Europe: we are able to provide hourly data for most European countries either from
our archives or on request using Synoptic and or Metar sources
- USA: hourly rainfall and temperature histories are available for over 260 sites
- USA: hourly feeds and historical data for the various US power regions ( eg ERCOT,
ECAR etc )
Recalibrated Data Sets:
Speedwell Recalibrated Data Sets re-base historical temperature data for
